The expected model is said to sport an AMOLED display that is almost 10 inches (9.96″) and folds in three separate panels leveraging a dual-hinge system. When folded, the collectible reverts back to a more pocketable size while providing the real estate of a tablet when opened. The inwards folding design means both of the side panels fold toward the inner panel, allowing a near continuous display.
The leaked camera kit shows a main high-resolution sensor ranging upwards of 200MP, along with ultrawide and telephoto lenses, factoring in digital zoom, possibly near 100×. While camera performance and specifications may vary, AI capabilities will take a significant role in image editing, object removal, scene recognition, and Galaxy AI capability to provide significant improvements in low light performance and portrait situations.
Reports suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will feature a flagship chipset — presumably the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (or Snapdragon 8 Elite) — as well as up to 16 GB of RAM and a robust battery, possibly with a three-cell configuration. On the software side, the device will run on One UI 8 and feature Galaxy AI multitasking capabilities, including floating windows and “fluid” transitions when switching between folded and unfolded versions.
According to leaks, Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z TriFold in a limited number of countries: South Korea; China; Singapore; Taiwan; and the United Arab Emirates. It’s possible the USA and Europe will either not be part of the launch at all or will see staggered releases. For the initial launch, Samsung may limit production on its first run, showing that this will be a niche, premium device, not intended for the mass-market.
The release of the Galaxy Z TriFold is a significant leap forward for Samsung to offer new foldable form factors, merging portability of a smartphone with the size of a tablet screen, at the same time functionalizing this with an AI option for usability. The TriFold is also offering advanced camera systems and top-of-the-line chipset with an oversized display which could establish a standard of behavior within foldable innovation.
